Washington Township (N.J.) senior defender Amanda Rey has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Wagner College.

Amanda Rey (also known as A.Rey) log:

Amanda Rey

High school: Washington Township High School

Graduation year: 2013

Position: Low Defense

College choice: Wagner College

Club affiliation: South Jersey Devils

Lacrosse honors: Second Team All-Conference, member of South Jersey National Tournament team.

Academic honors, service: Executive board for National Honor Society, Honor Roll, Business Ed Honor Society, assisted in Ba5k Walk and participated in many other community service projects.

Intended major: A business field

Why did you choose Wagner? “I chose this school because it’s D1 for lacrosse, it’s a great school for business, it has great partnerships for jobs in NYC, it’s the perfect distance from home, and I can see myself fitting in great.”

High school team’s outlook for 2013: “We will surprise a lot of teams. People are maybe overlooking us, but we will prove all of them wrong. Even though we graduate our whole starting line up but four girls, we have underclassman who are working hard to make that varsity spot. And all the energy and hard work will carry over into the season.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my coach. Coach (Sandy) Stockl made me the person I am today as a person and as a lacrosse player. She has a huge affect on my hs career and she also helped me make my decision for college. I would also like to thank my parents for supporting me with every decision I made and coming to every game!”
