Radnor junior midfield-defender Abby Junior has committed to play Division I lacrosse at the College of William and Mary.

Abby Junior log:

Abby Junior

High School: Radnor High School

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Midfield/Defense

College Choice: College of William and Mary

Club Affiliation: Phantastix

Major lacrosse honors: Philly Team 3

Academic honors, service projects: National Honor Society, Distinguished Honor Roll, Junior Class Vice President, Rachel’s Challenge Leader, Delaware County Women’s Leadership Award

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose William & Mary? “I chose William and Mary because it was the perfect fit for me academically and lacrosse-wise. The school and team have a strong sense of tradition, and I was excited to become part of a program that has a long, successful history. Academically, I know I will be receiving a great education, and the presence of community in the student body at William and Mary was undeniable. The campus is also beautiful, and I feel that it is an environment that I can develop as a person both on the field and off.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “Radnor’s outlook this year is very good. Last year we had to spend a good portion of the beginning of the season developing younger players, like myself, into their positions, but this year we have almost our entire line-up back, and can begin the season strong. Nearly all of the girls on my team played club lacrosse this summer, and so everyone has come back with better skills and more experience, two factors that will definitely bring us success. I am so excited for the season to start and to begin what I know will be a long journey to the state championship!”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank all of my coaches for their tireless support and willingness to accept my phone calls at 6:30 am. Chrissy Poplawski, Joann Yusko, Sue Frazier, Lorraine Beers, Phyllis Kilgore, and Brooke Fritz were the best coaches that I could have asked for. Without you guys, this process would have been a lot more stressful, and I don’t think I would have any hair left to pull out. Also, thank you to my family and friends who had to put up with me during these past few weeks, and have offered nothing but positive encouragement and endless support.”
