Immaculate Heart Academy junior midfield/defense Maura Schwitter has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Duke University.

Maura Schwitter log:

Maura Schwitter

High School: Immaculate Heart Academy

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Midfielder/Defender

College Choice: Duke University

Club Affiliation: Metro Lacrosse Club

Major lacrosse honors: Varsity Team Freshmen and Sophomore Year, SchoolGirls’ Women’s Division National Tournament North Jersey Team, Under Armour All American New Jersey Girls Team

Academic honors: National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Student Government

What will you major in/study? “I am currently undecided, but I am considering studying Engineering.”

Why did you choose Duke? “The chance to play lacrosse at such a great academic institution is a dream come true for me. I attended Duke’s lacrosse camp in the summer of 2011. I immediately fell in love with the campus and felt so welcomed by the coaching staff and players. There is a great camaraderie among the team, and I am excited to become part of a university that has such great school spirit.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “This season we are playing some of the best teams in North Jersey, and I think we have the talent to make a name for ourselves. We are a young team, but many of our players have played together for several years. Our team is very close and has worked hard in the off-season. We are looking forward getting back on the field.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my family for always being so supportive. I would also like to thank my Metro Lacrosse Coaches Bonnie Sullivan and Kelly Lephart. They were great role models for me. Their guidance both on and off the lacrosse field has meant so much to me.”
