Washington Township senior center Christina Brennan has committed to play Division II lacrosse at Dominican College.

Christina Brennan log:

Christina Brennan (#48, right)

High School: Washington Township High School

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Center

College Choice: Dominican College, NY

Club Affiliation: South Jersey Devils

Major lacrosse honors: 4 Varsity Letters, 2009 & 2011 South Jersey Group IV Champions 2010 Gloucester County Cup Champions, 2011 Olympic Conference Champions, 2011 First Team All Conference, 2011 Unsung Hero, 2012 Team Captain

Academic honors: Honor Roll, Renaissance Gold Card

What will you major in/study? Physical Therapy

Why did you choose Dominican? “I chose Dominican College because so much is offered there. They have an international ranking in Physical Therapy, which immediately drew my attention and I know I will be on a great path academically. Also, the Dominican Chargers lacrosse team has a great coach, Taryn Brechbiel, who I am so excited to play for. She is a great person, and is really dedicated to the sport.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “We had amazing seniors graduate last year and leave huge spots to fill on our low defense and low attack. This year we have a large, experienced senior class who know what we have to do to be successful and achieve our goals. Last season we fell short of a Group IV title, but we are striving to go even further.”

Additional comments: “I really want to thank my high school coach, Sandy Stockl. Over the past couple years, she really taught me discipline and if I wanted something, I had to work twice as hard as the person next to me to achieve it. She always pushed not only me, but all of her players to become the great players that they wanted to become and I am truly grateful for that. She is always a person I can talk to and rely on, whether it is on the lacrosse field or not.

I also would like to thank my other high school coaches, Jenn Reali and Deanna Ettore. They coached me since I was little and pushed me in the right direction when I was hesitant about playing lacrosse. I really fell in love with the sport and without them, I’m not too sure I’d be playing.

I was fortunate through my club team to have Melissa Venturi and Jason Catrambone as coaches who showed me to be great, it is all about doing the little things right. We always played to be “great not good”. With Melissa Venturi’s experience, helping me with my game and college search, and Jason’s advice and telling me things I can do to become a better player, they really formed me to the player I am today.

Finally, I would like to thank my parents. They were there by my side to support me and be there for the rides to tournaments, to watch my games, and late night jersey washes. You guys are the best and I love you two so much.”
