Wyomissing senior midfielder Veronica Lloyd has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lafayette College.

Veronica Lloyd log:

High School:Wyomissing, Berks County

Veronica Lloyd

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Center and Offensive Midfield

College Choice: Lafayette College Easton, PA

Club Affiliation:
380Lacrosse, Pottstown, PA

Major lacrosse honors:
First Team All Berks County; freshman, sophomore and junior years. Coaches Award for Outstanding Player; freshman and junior years. Philly Showcase Fab Forty All Star junior year. Team Captain junior and upcoming senior year.

Academic honors: National Honor Society, Dist Honor Roll; High Honors/Honor Roll each quarter throughout high school.

What will you major in/study? Film/Political Science

Why did you choose school?
“First, the coaches and girls on the team are amazing! The Lafayette ‘family’ atmosphere was apparent to me from the outset and that impressed me. Both Coach Ali (Fisher) and Coach Kristen (Ruminski) are Lafayette graduates and played lacrosse for the Leopards. That they came back to Lafayette said a lot about their love and dedication to the school and the lacrosse program. I felt comfortable and at home from the very start.

“Second, Lafayette’s academic prestige speaks for itself and was a big factor as well.

“My family plays a big part in my life and Lafayette is close enough for them to come and see us play and for me to make trips home, yet far enough away for me to be independent.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “It should be a strong year for Wyomissing girl’s lax. We did not have any seniors last year so we have all of our returning starters along with a lot of talented underclassmen coming up. We will be looking to step up our game this year.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my family for obvious reasons, but I would like to also thank Mr. Scott Helm and Mr. Bob Carson, for founding the lacrosse program at Wyomissing. I want to thank my coaches throughout the years especially Coach Christine Unger, Coach Noel Garapola and Coach Sophia Cammarano. Along with them, my first Elite coach Jill Rudy, 380Lacrosse coaches Kacy and Dani Small, and Maggie Tomasitis. And finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Coach Ali Fisher for giving me the opportunity to be apart of her team for the next four years.”
