Garden City (N.Y.) senior midfielder Catherine Dickinson has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dickinson helped Garden City finish 21-0 and claim its sixth straight Class B state championship in 2011, scoring three goals in the 12-6 clincher over Brighton. The
Lady Trojans finished No. 1 in the nation in the final MaxPreps poll and No. 2 by ESPNRISE and Lacrosse Magazine.

Catherine Dickinson log:

Catherine Dickinson

High school: Garden City High School (N.Y.)

Graduation year:
2012

Position: Midfield

College choice: University of Pennsylvania

Club affiliation: Long Island Yellow Jackets

Major lacrosse honors: All County ’11, Honorable Mention ’10, Women’s Division Nation Tournament – Long Island Metro Team # 1, ’10,’11, Empire State Team, Under Armour Underclassmen Team ’09,’11, NY State Championship Brine Choice Award, All Galaxy First Team, Top of the Class Camp Team MVP, 4 year varsity starter for team that won sixth straight Class B state title with 12-6 win over Brighton.

What will you major in/study? Wharton School of Business

Why did you choose school? “Penn was the perfect fit for me. It allowed me the best of both worlds; the ability to receive a great education and compete for a national championship. I fell in love with Philly and all the area has to offer. The coaches and team were so kind, motivated and fun and I could easily see myself fitting in.”

Outlook for your high school team: “Next year our goal is to make it to the state tournament again and defend our sixth consecutive state title. We lost a lot of talent, but we have plenty of great players ready to step up to the challenge. But as always, we are working on one game at a time.”

Other comments: “Thanks to Coach Diane Chapman, Gina Sambus, Dane Solomon, Janet Rogler and Carol Rose for all your help and encouragement throughout the years.”
