Academy of Notre Dame junior attack Delaney Tuite has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Rutgers University.

Delaney Tuite log:

Delaney Tuite

High School: Academy of Notre Dame de Namur

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Attack

College Choice:
Rutgers University

Club Affiliation:
Phantastix Lacrosse Club

Major lacrosse honors: Philly Showcase All-star, Selected Philadelphia Region National Tournament, Philadelphia Showcase camp All-star, University of Delaware camp All-star, Philadelphia Region scoring leaders list, 47 goals and 13 assists

Academic honors: Honor Roll Freshman and Sophomore years

What will you major in/study?
“I am undecided as of now, but one of the main reasons I chose Rutgers was because of the variety of majors that they offer.”

Why did you choose school? “I think I will get a great education at Rutgers and I am excited to be able to compete for the Big East Championship. I also felt really comfortable with Coach (Laura) Brand (Radnor grad) and her staff. I also had a chance to meet the team and they made me feel right at home. Coach Brand stresses a strong team concept and I think I will excel in that type of system.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We had a great year last year and were at one point ranked very high in the state rankings. We have most of our core players back this year and if we play as a team, we will be hard to beat!”

Other comments: “First of all, I would like to thank my dad for everything he has done for me, including driving all over the East Coast and coming to every single game. He has supported and encouraged me throughout my entire career, I couldn’t have done it without him, especially the car rides home where he critiques every aspect of the game he just watched, including my facial expressions.

“I would also like to thank Phantastix for giving me the opportunity to play at such a high level. I was not one of those kids who was born with a lacrosse stick in my hand, and Sue Frazier and JoAnn Yusko of the Phantastix encouraged me to work hard and improve as a lacrosse player.”
