Downingtown East senior attack Haley Nelson has made a verbal commitment to play Division II lacrosse at West Chester University.
Haley Nelson log:

Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Attack
College Choice: West Chester University
Club Affiliation: PA Express
Major lacrosse honors: Three-year varsity player, Member of 2011 District 1 Champions & State Runner-Up, National Lacrosse Classic Team, Philly Lacrosse Team 3 Showcase,
Academic Honors: Honor Roll Student
What will you major in/study? Pharmaceutical Product Development
Why did you choose school? “It is a great college town and I really love the Philadelphia area. I got good vibes on the campus and with all of the girls on the team. The academics and lacrosse program impressed me. I love the size of the school, and although the distance is close to home I like the fact my family can easily get to my games. I really felt comfortable with both coach (Ginny) Martino and (Sue) Burmester. They are very enthusiastic and have great expectations. I am looking forward to contributing to the team’s success.”
Expectations for 2012 high school season: “Downingtown East recently just named a new coach for this year. This season will feature a lot of team building and coming together as one. We have a lot of talent returning, and some big shoes to fill. The potential will be there and hopefully we take full advantage of that.”
Other comments: “First, I would like to thank (PA Express coach) Cathy Swartz for being a wonderful coach all of these years and for being a second mother to me. She has taught me so much about lacrosse, being a team player and competitor. We first meet in third grade on the LYA field. Her time and energy, along with her husband Mike, has taught me how to play a sport that I will now be playing on a college level. What a wonderful gift. I would also like to thank my brother, Taylor, for spending countless hours in the backyard playing lacrosse and teaching me moves. Through his love of the game he has developed me as a player and encouraged me along the way. Last, but not least thank you Mom, Dad, and Lindsey for all of your patience, love and support you have given me. I am so excited about my college decision and playing lacrosse for the next four years!”
