Council Rock North junior Molly Doyle has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy.

Doyle was selected to the Suburban One League All-Third Team as she helped lead the Indians to a 14-2 season and a share of the conference title with Abington. Doyle plays club lacrosse for the Phantastix.

“I love the coaches, the team, and what they stand for,” said Doyle. “The five-year mandatory service afterward had me hesitant, but I am comfortable with it now.”

Doyle will play for legendary coach Cindy Timchal at Navy. The Haverford High graduate won eight national championships at Maryland before taking the job as the first coach at Navy four years ago. In three seasons, she has guided the Mids to a record of 43-13and last year her squad won the Patriot League championship.

“Staying overnight really helped me see what goes on at Navy and it helped me see what Navy is all about,” said Doyle, who also considered Ohio State, Penn State, and Notre Dame.

Doyle will be seeing a familiar face when she enrolls at Navy as a freshman. Her teammate, senior Lindsay Rheiner committed to Navy in August. Also, fellow junior and teammate Kara Magley recently committed to Boston College.

Doyle, unfortuantely, will not play this season as she recovers from a torn abterior cruciate ligament sustained during the basketball season. Still, Doyle has big expectations for her Indians this year.

“We want to go further this year than last year,” she said. “We only lost one starter due to graduation.”

Doyle maintains a positive outlook on her injury.

“I have a different view now that I am able to watch from the sidelines instead of on the field,” she said. “I get a coach’s perspective.”
