Archbishop Carroll junior attack-midfielder Rachel Flynn has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Duquesne University.
Rachel Flynn log:

High School: Archbishop Carroll
Graduation Year: 2013
Position: attack/midfield
College Choice: Duquesne
Club Affiliation: Phantastix
Major Lacrosse Honors: Played on Philly 2 at National Tournament
Academic Honors: National Honors Society, First Honors, top 20 percent of the class, 4.0 GPA, Student Council
Intended major: Masters in Occupational Therapy
Why did you choose school? “I visited Duquesne a year ago because of its occupational therapy program and fell in love with the size and feel of the school. When I started looking at schools to play lacrosse, I kept going back to Duquesne. Their OT program is 24th in the country and is a 5-year master program which is what I want.
“I had the opportunity to meet with the director of the OT department, the lacrosse coaches, and the team. All the pieces fit for me.
I really liked Coach (Michael) Scerbo and Coach (Regina) Oliver (Pottstown High grad). They made me feel comfortable from the first time I met them, and I’m looking forward to playing under them.”
HS outlook for 2012 season: “Each of my last two years we lost some really strong players/leaders, but have been able to come back and do well. I think this year should be no different; we certainly have our work cut out for us trying to win the Catholic League for the 12th year in a row and get past the state quarterfinals.”
Other comments: “First I would like to thank my parents for cheering for me and driving up and down the East Coast and being my biggest fans and believing in me. I would also like to thank my HS coach, Lorraine Beers, for teaching me so much about the game and giving me the opportunity to play on such a great team and helping me to improve. Last, to the Phantastix coaches and my teammates. I’ve learned so much from each of them and they’ve all helped me become the player that I am now, and continue to help me to grow as a player. I’ve been very lucky to play on two great teams: Carroll and Phantastix.”
