Academy of Notre Dame junior midfielder Kristen Bandos has made a verbal commitment to play Division 1 lacrosse at Georgetown University.

Academy of Notre Dame junior Kristen Bandos has committed to Georgetown

Bandos was a starter as both a freshman and sophomore for the Irish, which finished ranked No. 10 in the state last year in the final PA Media Rankings. Bandos led Notre Dame in scoring as a sophomore with 74 goals and was named First Team All- Inter-Ac League. Also an attack player, she plays club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal.

An Honor Roll student and member of the Student Council, Bandos also considered Princeton, Notre Dame, Boston College, Stanford and Harvard. She plans to study Political Science and Business at Georgetown.

“I felt Georgetown gave me the best balance of academics and athletics in a great environment,” said Bandos. “Georgetown has an excellent academic reputation.

“Coach (Ricky) Fried and the entire Georgetown coaching staff are awesome people with an amazing knowledge of lacrosse.”

Notre Dame now has three Division I recruits. The others are senior Bree Buysee (Lehigh) and Mary Catherine McDonald (Loyola).

Bandos is confident the Irish will again contend for the Inter-Ac title this year. Last year Notre Dame dropped two one-goal decisions to champion Episcopal Academy.

“I am really looking forward to this year,” she said. “We lost a large number of seniors but there are juniors, sophomores and freshmen who will be able to fill those spots.

“We lost two league games last year by one goal which made all the difference between first and second place in the Inter-Ac, but we hope to change that this year.”

Bandos is also a three-year starter for the Notre Dame soccer team and was captain in her junior year when she led the team in goals.
