Wings hold on to defeat Colorado, 12-11, claim third straight NLL victory

Athan Iannucci had three goals and three assists and Brandon Miller made 44 saves in goal as the host Philadelphia Wings held on to defeat the Colorado Mammoth tonight, 12-11, for their third straight National Lacrosse League victory before 8,616 at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Wings (3-2) led, 12-8, when Kyle Sweeney (Springfield-Delco) and Drew Westervelt (three goals) scored to open the fourth period. But Colorado notched three unanswered goals and put the heat on Miller, who again was brilliant.

Philadelphia led, 10-4, at halftime, but was outscored, 4-0, in the third quarter.

Matt Alrich added two goals for the Wings while Brendan Mundorf added a goal and two assists. Max Seibald added a goal and an assist and Ryan McClelland had a goal. Ryan Boyl contributed three assists while Paul Dawson and Alex Turner each had two assists. Steve Holmes (Germantown Academy), Shawn Nadelen and Joe Smith led the defense with five loose balls apiece.

John Grant led Colorado with two goals and six assists while Alex Gajic had three goals and an assist. The mammoth outshot the Wings, 55-38, and won 16 of 27 face-offs.
