The trial of PA Commonweath v
Gerald Ung in connection with the shooting of former La Salle College High and Villanova University lacrosse standout Eddie DiDonato is scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 7, at the Philadelphia County Courthouse.
Ung, 29, is charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Aggravated Assault, Possession of an Instrument of Crime with Intent, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
The incident occurred early on the morning of Jan. 17 at 4th and Market streets outside the Fox 29 TV station in Philadelphia’s Old City section.
DiDonato, 24, of Blue Bell, was shot six times at close range following an altercation involving Ung.
Jury selection will commence Monday morning.
DiDonato – a member of La Salle’s 2004 state championship team and a two-time captain at Villanova – spent a month in the Intensive Care Unit at Jefferson University Hospital following the shooting. He continues to recover.
