Thursday’s girls’ high school roundup: Radnor edges Haverford High, 15-14; D-town East routs D-town West

Radnor survived a major scare today to remain undefeated in the Central League as Taryn Deck scored five goals to spark a 15-14 come-from-behind triumph over Haverford High.

Kristen Norden and Amelie Yeager each scored twice and Annie Woehling made 13 saves as the Red Raiders erased a 13-10 deficit with five unanswered goals late in the game and improved to 7-0 in the league and 10-1 overall.

Katrina Geiger led the Fords with seven goals and Jill Root added three goals and an assist.

Wissahickon 12, Upper Moreland 0

Laura Frankenfield had three goals and an assist and Jackie Hibbs added two goals and one assist to lead the Trojans to the rare whitewash.

Jess Scannapieco picked up two saves and four interceptions to earn the shutout.

Downingtown East 24, Downingtown West 9

Emily Solenberger collected six goals and three assists and McKenzie added five goals and one assist while Kelly Devlin had four goals and eight assist to lead the Cougars to the easy Ches-Mont League win.

Eva Winiarski led the Whippets with four goals.

Villa Maria Academy 17, Gwynedd Mercy Academy 5

Jenna Mertz fired in six goals and Carolyn Griesser added five goals and an assist to lead the Hurricanes to the Catholic Academies win.

Jamie Bumgardner led Gwynedd Mercy with two goals.

Abington 11, Council Rock South 8

Meredith Cox and Elisa McCall each scored three goals for the Ghosts in the Suburban One National Conference win.

Gabi Rosenfeld had four goals for CR South.

Harriton 18, Ridley 5

Carli Sukonik collected five goals, one assist, three draw controls and two caused turnovers while Jess Schwab had four goals and two assist to lead the Rams to the Central League win.

Lacey Doubet led Ridley with two goals.

Bishop Shanahan 8, Bayard Rustin 7

Hannah Goforth (three goals) scored the game-winner with 12 seconds to play to lift the Eagles to the Ches-Mont win.

Colleen Holmes added two goals and two assists while Megan Dunn made 11 saves and Leah Peppelman and Casey Briglia contributed outstanding defense.

Mikayla Doane led Rustin with three goals.

Conestoga 20, Marple Newtown 4

Rachel Hanscom had three goals and three assists and and Abby Lord added three goals and two assists while Claire Jackson had three goals and one assist to lead the Pioneers to the easy Central League win.

Upper Merion 10, Academy of the New Church 8

The Vikings rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit to win on Senior Night. Mel Ryan erupted for six goals and one assist and Casey Griffith and Amanda McAteer each added two goals and one assist while goalkeeper Ally Frymoyer had 13 saves.
