Moorestown (N.J.) junior attack Margaret Nissen has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Rutgers University.

Margaret Nissen log:

Margaret Nissen

High school: Moorestown (NJ) High School

Graduation year: 2013

Position:
Attack

College choice:
Rutgers University

Club affiliation: South Jersey Select Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors: Inaugural Philly Showcase all-star selection, member of the Moorestown program that won Group III state title, advanced to Tournament of Champions finals.

What will you major in/study?
“I am planning to major in Exercise Science which will eventually lead to graduate studies in physical therapy.”

Why did you choose school?
“I chose to commit to Rutgers because of the diverse academic opportunities and resources it offers its students. In terms of their lacrosse program, I love Coach (Laura) Brand-Sias’ approach to the game and am excited by the recent hiring of Coach (Lisa) Ojea and Coach (Anne) Murray. When I had the opportunity to spend some time with the current players, they made me feel very welcome. I am looking forward to competing in the Big East Conference with other nationally prominent lacrosse programs.” Note – Brand-Sias is a Radnor grad and Ojea is a Springfield-Delco alum.

Outlook for your high school team: “I am looking forward to Moorestown’s 2012 season. We are returning many key members of our 2011 state championship team and we have already set our goal of winning New Jersey’s Tournament of Champions at the end of the year. Coach (Deanna) Knobloch will have us well prepared for that challenge.”

Other comments:
“I am so happy to have committed to Rutgers University and look forward to being part of the RU Lax family. Throughout the process, I have received so much support from my parents, my coaches and my teammates. I want to specifically thank Deanna and K.C. Knobloch (Moorestown High School coaches and the directors of South Jersey Select Lacrosse) and David Schlesinger (my South Jersey Select head coach) for helping to put me in a position to succeed.”
