Saturday’s boys’ roundup: Penn Charter defeats St. Michael’s (Toronto); D-town West, Shipley, Abington, Emmaus gain wins

Shane Carr had four goals and an assist and Andy Grabowski added three goals and one assist to lead host Penn Charter to a 16-12 victory Saturday over St. Michael’s College School in non-league boys’ lacrosse.

St. Michael’s, of Toronto, Ontario in Canada, also played Unionville earlier in the day and today was scheduled to play St. Joseph’s Prep at Chestnut Hill College.

Joey Sankey added two goals and two assists for the Quakers and Grant Guyer and Tyler White each had two goals and an assist while Tyler Earley added a goal and three assists. Jackson Tamasitis made 11 saves in goal for PC.

St. Michael’s (Can.) 12, Unionville 11, OT

James Moss had three goals, Billy Donovan had two goals and two assists, and Max Kelly added two goals and one assist for the Indians (3-6) in the loss to their Canadian foes.

Downingtown West 13, Allentown Central Catholic 6

Eric Rankel scored four goals as the Whippets improved to 9-0.

Brad Shenberger and Zach Logan each added three goals and an assist for Downingtown West.


Shipley 14, Moravian Academy 0

Mac Gallagher had five goals and two assists and Mike Litner collected three goals., four assists and four groundballs while Mike Gagnier contributed two goals and nine groundballs as the Gators coasted to the rare whitewash. Ian McGibbon made six saves in pitching the shutout.

Abington 13, Plainedge (NY) 6

Matt Figueroa led a balanced attack with three goals and two assists and Ryan Ambler added two goals and three assists for the Ghosts in the non-league win.

Brian Gallagher (one assists), Matt Gormley and Matt Lomady each scored twice for Abington while Austin Pifani led the defense with six groundballs.

Emmaus 9, Owen J. Roberts 6

Dan Kinek led the Green Hornets with four goals in the non-league win.

Kohl Batdorf had four goals to pace OJR.
