Rising NLL star Seibald to give this week’s ‘Wings Tip of the Week’

January 27, 2011 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 1/27/11

Second-year Wings transition player Max Seibald will be providing the third installment of the Phillylacrosse.com/Philadelphia Wings Tip of the week this week.

Max Seibald

Seibald came to the Wings last year in a trade with the Boston Blazers after earning the distinction of winning the Tewarraton Trophy as the top collegiate player in 2009 in NCAA play for Cornell.

He has four goals and two assists for the Wings, who won their first game of the year last weekend, a thrilling 11-10 triumph over the host Colorado Mammoth.

As a freshman at Cornell, Seibald earned the Ivy League Rookie of the Year award and he was one of the five finalists for the 2007 Tewaaraton Trophy as a sophomore. He led the Big Red’s high powered offense to an undefeated regular season, and to the 2007 NCAA Final Four.

Seibald was elected to the Sphinx Head Society, Cornell’s oldest senior honor society.

In the 2010 MLL All-Star Game skills competition, Seibald posted a world record-tying shot of 110 miles per hour. He now shares the record with Team USA teammate Paul Rabil, who defended his 2009 fastest shot title by posting a second shot of 111 to Seibald’s 109 miles per hour second shot.

Seibald also plays in Major League Lacrosse with the Denver Outlaws and was selected 2nd overall by Denver in the 2009 MLL draft. He tallied 20 goals last year, playing alongside Wings teammates Drew Westervelt and Brendan Mundorf.

Seibald also is the founder and managing member of MaxLax42, LLC. MaxLax42, LLC runs lacrosse camps and clinics under the name Maximum Lacrosse Camps.

Seibald played on the victorious US Men’s National Lacrosse Team at the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England. The US team defeated Canada 12-10 in the final to reclaim the World Championship. His Jersey number was 42, the same number he wore at Cornell.

Past Tip of the Week videos are by Wings Bill McGlone and John Christmas.
