Notre Dame made the big jump this week by defeating Radnor and moving up six spots to No. 2.
This Saturday at the 11th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor, Notre Dame meets No. 6 Springfield-Delco, No. 1 Archbishop Carroll plays No. 4 Downingtown East, No. 8 Episcopal Academy faces No. 9 Conestoga while No. 3 Radnor takes on Baltimore power Bryn Mawr.
This week’s rankings:
1, Archbishop Carroll (9-1) – The Patriots meet No. 4 Downingtown East at Katie Samson. Prev: No. 1
2, Notre Dame (7-1) – The Irish, who dealt Radnor its first loss of the year, 14-11, is primed for the first of two matches Tuesday against Episcopal Academy in an Inter-Ac League showdown at home. Prev: No. 8
3, Radnor (8-1) – The Red Raiders split with Inter-Ac powers Episcopal Academy (14-11 win) and Notre Dame (10-7 loss). They have key Central League games this week at Conestoga (Tuesday) and against Haverford High (Thursday) before hosting Bryn Mawr at Katie Samson Saturday. Prev: No. 2
4, Downingtown East (9-1) – The Cougars host St. John the Baptist (N.Y.) today, then they host Ches-Mont League rival Downingtown West Thursday and meet No. 1 Archbishop Carroll at Katie Samson. Prev: No. 3
5, Harriton (10-1) – The Rams play at Garnet Valley Tuesday and then after hosting Ridley Thursday they meet Unionville at Katie Samson. Prev: No. 5
6, Springfield-Delco (8-1) – The Cougars host Marple Newtown (Tuesday) and Garnet Valley (Thursday) before meeting No. 2 Notre Dame at Katie Samson. No. 6
7, Great Valley (8-1) – The Patriots host Bayard Rustin Tuesday and play at West Chester East Thursday in Ches-Mont League games. Prev: No. 9
8, Episcopal Academy (5-4) – EA had a murderous week of competition, falling to Radnor (10-7) and two national powers from the Greater Baltimore/DC area; St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes (9-6) and Roland Park (19-17). If anything could prepare it for Tuesday’s Inter-Ac showdown with Notre Dame, that surely would. Prev: No. 4
9, Conestoga (6-2) – The Pioneers need to beat Radnor Tuesday at home to remain in the chase for a Central League crown. They also have a big date at Katie Samson vs. Episcopal Academy. Prev: No. 7
10. North Penn (12-1) – The Maidens play at Central Bucks South Tuesday and at Souderton Thursday in key Suburban One Continental games. Prev: No. 10
Under Consideration: Boyertown (8-4), Garnet Valley (8-2), Hatboro-Horsham (9-1), Strath Haven (8-3), Villa Maria Academy (8-2).
