Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Rankings: Haverford School prevails in Maryland challenge

No. 1 Haverford School took care of business by downing three of Maryland’s top teams – St. Paul’s, Loyola Blakefield and McDonogh – to open the season.

The Fords retained their perch atop the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Power Rankings and surely will stay atop the ESPN RISE Powerade Fab 50.

Here is the year’s second Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Rankings:

1 Haverford School (3-0) – The Fords host Chestnut Hill Academy Thursday and then have more than a week off. Prev: No. 1

2. Conestoga (0-0) – The Pioneers host No. 4 St. Joseph’s Prep Saturday at 5 p.m. in the back end of a can’t-miss doubleheader (Hatboro-Horsham vs. Coppell of Texas is at 3 p.m.). Prev: No. 2.

3. La Salle (0-0) – The Explorers open at No. 7 Episcopal Academy on Friday. Prev: No. 3

4. St. Joseph’s Prep (0-0) – The Hawks open Saturday (5 p.m.) at Conestoga in an early-season shjowdown with the No. 2 Pioneers. Prev: No. 4.

5. Malvern Prep (1-0) – The Friars looked strong Saturday in their win over Loyola Blakefield (Md.). They host Delaware power Salesianum School on Wednesday. Prev: No. 5.

6. Garnet Valley (0-0) – The Jaguars open Friday by hosting Hatboro-Horsham. Prev: No. 6.

7. Episcopal Academy (0-0) – The Churchmen open Friday with a home game vs. No. 3 La Salle. Prev: No. 7

8. Germantown Academy (0-0) –
The Patriots open Saturday at home against New England power Brunswick School (Conn.). Prev: No. 8

9. Central Bucks East (0-0) – The Patriots open at Allentown Central Catholic Saturday. Prev: No. 9.

10. Penn Charter (1-0) – The Quakers, coming off their key victory over Loyola Blakefield, play at Hill School on Wednesday. Prev: No. 10.

Under consideration: Abington, Avon Grove, Bishop Shanahan, Downingtown West, Great Valley, Hatboro-Horsham, Owen J. Roberts, Penncrest, Pennsbury, Radnor, Ridley, Spring-Ford, Strath Haven.
