Over 50 boys and girls participated in the 2011 LEAPS/BWSF Summer Lacrosse Camp at the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center in Philadelphia.
The camp, which ended Thursday, was facilitated by LEAPS and Black Women Sports Foundation directors Eric Gregg and Tina Sloan Green. Through a partnership between The Salvation Army, LEAPS, and BWSF, children were provided free basic lacrosse instruction three nights a week on the Kroc Centers lighted turf field.
Working together, LEAPS and BWSF facilitated these clinics for Philadelphia youth with the goal of forming youth lacrosse teams based out of the diamond in the rough located at 4200 Wissahickon Avenue.
The directors wished to thank the Salvation Army, and all of the volunteer coaches that donated their time all summer long mentoring kids from Nicetown, Project HOME, the surrounding North Philadelphia neighborhoods, and beyond.
