Monday’s girls’ roundup: Springfield-Delco edges Villa Maria Academy; Sacred Heart, Barrack win

Maddy Lynch scored four goals, including the game-winner with 1:42 to play, and Rachel Charamella added two while Kristy Reid made 13 saves as host Springfield-Delco defeated Villa Maria Academy Monday in non-league girls’ action.

The Cougars remained undefeated at 3-0 while Villa fell to 2-2.

Jenna Mertz and Carolyn Griesser each scored twice for the Hurricanes.

Sacred Heart 17, Archbishop Prendergast 2

Stephanie Finley erupted for eight goals and four assists and Eileen Dombrowski had four goals and an assist for Sacred Heart in the non-league win.

Barrack 16, Solebury 7

Danielle Levin pumped in nine goals and Sivan Ben-Maimon added five to lead Barrack.

Rebecca Brady had two goals for Solebury.

Phoenixville 9, Pottstown 3

Karen Hayde was fabulous in goal with 22 saves to lead the Phantmas to a PAC-10 win.

Britney Rohall and Marlee Farbstein both scored hat tricks for the Phantoms, who entered the game in a dead heat with the Trojans for the Frontier Division lead at 2-0.

Also scoring for the Phantoms (3-0, 3-1 overall) were Shannon McErlean, Sara Gilbert and Jess Tague, offsetting goals by Pottstown’s Kelsey Shumaker, Madison Mackewicz and Danae Perrymond. The loss drops the Trojans to 2-1 in the league, 2-3 overall.

Methacton 12, Perkiomen Valley 6

The Warriors stayed perfect in three PAC-10 starts behind had trick from Abby Devlin and Emily Kellett. Methacton (4-1 overall) had a trio of two-goal scorers – Anna Warrington, Sara Watro and Megan Nearing.

Liz McShane (assist) and Amber Gansz scored twice apiece for Perk Valley (1-2 league, 2-3), while Lauren Valerio, Chandler Geise and Andrea Berenato all added single strikes.

Spring-Ford 12, Owen J. Roberts 11

Spring-Ford overcame a 7-6 halftime deficit thanks to the hot stick of Maddie Ward, who recorded eight goals and the standout goaltending of Cassidy Novotny (19 saves). Kira Gensler, Caite Bercek, Leanne Shaw and Sasha Wozniak also found the net for the Rams (1-2, 2-3).

Winless OJR (0-3, 0-5) got three goals apiece from Kelsey Dielman and Emily Kolsevich and two each from Jordan Shoemaker and Devan Davis. Taylor Shronk had the Wildcats’ other strike.

Pottsgrove 13, Interboro 10

Rachelle Mewshaw lit up the stat sheet with six goals and an assist to propel the Falcons to their first win of the season in the non-league encounter.

Pottsgrove (1-3 overall) had other offensive heroes, including Libs Sitko (2 goals, 2 assists), Lauren Edmunds (2 goals, assist), Nicole Rohrbach (2 goals), Ally Schurr (goal, 2 assist) and Jade Mark (assist).

Defensively for the Falcons, Cierra Walton and Emily Bowen had three interceptions in front of Lindsey Weaver, who was stellar in goal with 21 saves on 31 shots – a 68 percent mark.

Brianna Golden had four goals and Alexia Ellis had a hat trick for the Bucs.
