– The Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team announces the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2013 season; Derick Darnulc (Baldwin, NY) of Baldwin High School and George Markey (Neshanic Station, NJ) of Immaculata High School.
“We expect both of these guys to make an immediate impact on our team next year. We only graduate one player this spring, so our 2012 class is going to be small in size but very talented,” said Head Coach Brian Dougherty. “I expect five or six other student-athletes to join these two when the complete class is announced at the end of the year.”
Darnulc is a two-sport captain at Baldwin High School, competing in football and lacrosse. He earned All-Nassau County Honorable Mention last season as a defenseman for the Bruins. When with the Griffins, Darnulc will rejoin his former high school teammate, current Chestnut Hill College freshman midfielder Chris Mertens (Freeport, NY).
Markey finished his junior year at Immculata High School among New Jersey’s top-25 in points with 57 goals and 27 assists (84 points), helping the Spartans third place finish in the state playoffs. He also represented his home state this summer at the 2011 Under Armour Underclassmen Games and Adidas National Lacrosse Classic.
