St. Augustine Prep's Bryan Phillips has committed to Drexel

Phillips helped the Hermits finish 17-5 and win the Cape Atlantic League Conference while reaching the finals of the New Jersey state Top 205 Rising Junior Lacrosse Showcase Philly Lacrosse Showcase All Star selection

He plays club lacrosse for South Shore.

A member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, he received the Merit Certificate for the highest average in Algebra II and US History II. He plans to major in Business or Economics.

“When I visited the Drexel campus, I was very impressed with their academics and the strong Co-op program as well as the team’s work ethic. Drexel Lacrosse has a great coaching staff and reputation for being a top contender in the CAA.”

Phillips has high expectations for 2012. His team already has eight players committed to play Division I lacrosse.

“We want to win the state championship,” he said. “We are going to be playing a strong independent schedule this year. Our team is very committed to working towards this goal.

Phillips wished to thank Hermits head coach J.C. Valore and his older brother Dave, who plays at Wagner College.

“He (Valore) has been a real mentor to me,” Phillips said. “I started playing my freshman year in High School and he has helped me in every aspect of the game as well as in the recruiting process.”
