Salesianum School (DE) senior attackman Andrew Blundin has made a verbal commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Lynchburg College (VA).

Salesianum School senior Andrew Blundin has committed to Lynchburg

Blundin was First Team All-State pick (47 goals, 45 assists) for the Sals last year when they fell to Tower Hill in the state finals in double overtime. Blundin also helped Salesianum win the state crown in 2009. He plays club lacrosse for the Duke’s L.C.

Blundin looked at several Division I schools, but Lynchburg, “was where I wanted to be,” he said.

While at Lynchburg, Blundin intends on majoring in Business Administration and taking on either Business Marketing or Sports Management as a minor.

“One of the things I was looking for was a school that wasn’t close to home,” Blundin said. “I wanted to go somewhere that was far but do-able to come home.”

Steve Koudelka, the head coach of the Lynchburg lacrosse team, was a strong draw.

“Coach Koudelka is a real nice guy and he has the team heading in the right direction,” Blundin said. “know I’ll be successful at Lynchburg, it’s a great fit for me athletically, but most importantly academically.”

The Hornets roster features many Philly players: sophomore defenseman Jim Gill (Unionville), sophomore defenseman Joseph Lisicky (Unionville), junior attackman Dylan Hoff (Downingtown East), freshman attackman David Alyanakian (Strath Haven), junior defenseman Ben Wright (Central Bucks East), junior defenseman Rob Day (Lansdale Catholic) and freshman midfielder Campbell Armstrong (Great Valley).

A loss in the state finals last year left a bitter taste in Andrew’s mouth. But, he and his fellow Sallies are looking to rebound for another shot at a state title.

“We want to get that trophy back, our seniors want to go out with the trophy,” Blundin said.

“Sophomore season we went undefeated (17-0). With losing last year it showed anything can happen. We learned it the hard way anything can happen and we are making sure it won’t happen again.”
