What will you major in? “I plan on majoring in business and entrepreneurship.”
Why did you choose High Point? “I chose High Point University because I want to be part of an up and coming program that is positioned to win. Coach (Jon) Torpey (former Wings and Barrage member) is a well known coach for putting together winning teams and I want to be a part of that excitement. I’ve spent time with the team and everyone shares the same passion to be the best. It’s a a great thing to be a part of and I am very lucky to have been given the chance.”
Also considered: Syracuse University, University Of Delaware, Villanova University, and Hofstra University
What is your HS team’s outlook for the next year? “The popular opinion is that Ridgewood High School is believed to of have one of its top 5 teams in history during the 2011/2012 season. The Ridgewood High School lacrosse team, which is lead by Coach (Mike) Pounds has a very respected reputation in the lacrosse community; yet the High School team had a down period during the 2009/2010 season. During 2010/2011 the team (15-6) had a great come back in the state and national rankings and had great leaders and captains such as Vann Jorgensen, Garrett Clarke, and Andrew Toner. Jorgensen, Clarke and Toner lead the Ridgewood High School team to win the Gibbs division and to also win the Bergen County Championship. This team also made it to the third round of the State Playoffs. The 2010/2011 season was just a preview for the success that Ridgewood High School is expecting to have in 2011/2012. The 2011/2012 team and staff will truly make their mark in New Jersey and in the Lacrosse community, nationally. This year the Ridgewood High School team is lead by Ryan Ghaderi and Tripp Telesco. These are two amazing captains that will lead us to our full potential in every way possible.”
Other comments: “The people I would like to thank most would be my mother, Nancy, for driving me and paying for me to attend every tournament I have gone to throughout my life in order to get me where I am today. Coach MV Whitlow of Tri-State Lacrosse who believed in my ability and encouraged me to challenge myself to be better than I ever thought was possible. Coach Pounds of Ridgewood High School for the the personal direction and the recruiting help he has given me. I would also like to thank Ridgewood High School for giving me every tool I needed to succeed in the classroom on an everyday basis. Last, I would like to thank Coach Torpey and staff of High Point University for giving me the opportunity to be a part of one of the most exciting up and coming division 1 programs.”
