Methacton senior long stick midfielder Nick Hopf has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Roanoke College.

Nick Hopf log:

Nick Hopf

High school: Methacton

Graduation year: 2012

Position: LSM

College choice: Roanoke

Club affiliation: Black Bear Montco Elite

Major lacrosse tourneys: Black Bear Elite, Summer Sizzle

What will you major in/study: Undecided

Why did you choose school: “I loved the campus and the academic and athletic offer Roanoke has to offer. Everyone there is very welcoming as well. I liked the coaches and their high expectations every year and wanting everyone to commit and do well on and off the field. The (Maroons) always work hard to win the ODAC.”

Outlook for your high school team: “We graduated a bunch of seniors last year, so we have a bunch of guys looking for some playing time now. We’ve had guys willing to step up and we have a pretty strong defense coming in to take on PAC-10 opponents like OJR and Spring-Ford. I’m really excited for the season and we’re hoping to pick up where we left off and go further in our conference playoffs and districts as well.”

Other comments: “First off, I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting me the whole time with playing and the college process. I would like to give special thanks to my Methacton coach (Nat) Ryan and Black Bear/Spring-Ford coach (Kevin) Donnelly. Both have been outstanding coaches and have helped inspire and teach me, so that I work to my full potential on and off the field. Last but not least, thanks to all my teammates from my travel team and school for being great athletes and people to be around and play alongside.”
