La Salle junior defenseman Casey Eidenshink has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

La Salle junior defenseman Casey Eidenshink has committed to Lehigh

Eidenshink, who plays club lacrosse for LB3 and also has played for the Duke’s L.C., is a key starter on a team that is leading the Catholic League and has reached the state finals each of the past three years. He was named Second Team All-Catholic last season.

He also considered Drexel, Penn and Villanova.

Eidenshink, who has made first honors his first two years at La Salle, is considering majoring in business or engineering at Lehigh.

“I took a visit in the fall with my dad and walked around campus and just thought the campus was really beautiful and a great place,” Eidenshink said. “And two La Salle kids [sophomore midfielder Derek Bogorowski and sophomore defenseman Mike Noone] go there.”

“It just seemed like the right fit for me,” Eidenshink added.

Eidenshink joins a long list of La Salle players to commit to Division I programs this year. Attackman Kevin Forster (Maryland), midfielder Jack Bogorowski (Johns Hopkins), midfielder Zack Jones (Towson), defenseman Mark DiFrangia (St. John’s) and goalie Victor Garcia (Jacksonville) have already signed or committed this season. Since 2009, La Salle has sent 21 players to various programs across the country.

Eidenshink marks the fourth Philadelphia junior to commit to Lehigh this season. Germantown Academy attackman Reid Weber, South Haven goalie Steve Brodeur and Radnor midfielder Ben Junior are already heading to Lehigh.

The 12-5 Explorers have one game remaining before postseason play and are primed to make a run at an eighth straight league crown. Eidenshink believes they have what it takes to win the conference once again and reclaim their state title they won in 2008 and 2009.

“We started off a little shaky [this season] with three losses but I think that we’re really improving and at practice we’re really starting to click,” Eidenshink said. “I think that we can be dangerous in the playoffs. I think expectations are to get back to Hershey and bring home that medal.”
