Hempfield junior midfielder/attackman Nick Valentino has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.

Nick Valentino log:

High school: Hempfield H.S.

Graduation year: 2013

Position: Midfield/Attack

College choice: Drexel University

Club affiliation: Duke’s LC

Major lacrosse honors: 2nd team All-League; Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip-Sophmore & Junior camps; ESPN H.S. Watch List; Philly Showcase

What will you major in/study: Business

Why did you choose school: “Drexel had the best combination of all the things that I was looking for in a school. A strong business program was a priority. When I had my overnight visit, all the players that I met were great and I also liked the urban environment of the campus. Drexel has one of the top lacrosse teams in the country and I really liked Coach (Brian) Voelker as well.”

Other info: Hempfield and Duke’s L.C. teammate Matt Senft (junior) also committed to Drexel this week.

Outlook for your high school team: “We should have a strong team this season. We are solid at the face-off position and we’ll have a strong offense because most of our Middies and Attack are returning. We lost our goalie and a D-pole from last year so we’ll need some guys to step up.”

Other comments: “I want to thank my parents for their support. I also want to thank all the Hempfield coaches from my youth lacrosse days to the present that helped me progress over the years. I especially want to thank Coach (Ebe) Helm and all of the Duke’s coaches that helped me take my game to the next level.”
