Conestoga senior midfielder Richie Graf has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Gettysburg College.

Graf was a member of a Pioneers that defeated St. Joseph’s Prep, 13-4, to claim their second straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) championship.

The win capped a 25-1 season for Conestoga, which lost only to Haverford School, the nation’s top-ranked team. Conestoga is ranked No. 2 in several national polls.

“Winning a second straight title was awesome,” said Graf. “It represents all the hard work put in by the team throughout the season. It was also great to leave on such a high note.”

Graf, who played club lacrosse for Mesa Fresh 2011, was an Honor Roll student who plans to major in a health science field, perhaps pre-med.

This year the Bullets went 12-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs under coach Hank Janczyk.

“I chose Gettysburg because of the academic opportunities it presents as well as the strong sense of community,” Graf said. “After meeting and talking with Coach Janczyk I knew I wanted to be a Bullet.”

Graf wished to thank Conestoga head coach Brian Samson as well as assistants Craig Gratton, Brody Bush, and John Hildebrand.
