Avon Grove senior face-off specialist/midfielder Anthony DiNenno has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Philly power Cabrini College.
DiNenno was a First Team Ches-Mont League pick this year, helping the Red Devils (17-4 overall) place second with a league mark of 9-2 while reaching the District 1 quarterfinals. He had 15 goals and 10 assists and won 239 face-offs in 347 attempts (69% win rate).
DiNenno, who played club lacrosse for Team 302, will major in Criminology.
Cabrini won its 11th straight Colonial States Athletic Conference championship this year, finishing 13-6 reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament under coach Steve Colfer.
“I chose Cabrini because of the small class size and because I’ll get a lot more one-on-one help,” said DiNenno. “I also chose it because of the success of the lacrosse team. I feel I will fit right in.”
DiNenno will join Avon Grove Damian Sobieski (attackman) as a Cabrini recruit.
DiNenno set a school record by winning over 600 face-offs in his career at Avon Grove.
“I am really going to miss my days at Avon Grove, but I can’t wait to take my game to the next level,” he said. “I am leaving there knowing I gave them everything I had.”
