Goalie Jesse McGinley, who starred at Abington and spent part of his freshman year at Widener, has transferred to Chestnut Hill College.
McGinley was a First Team Suburban One National Conference pick who helped the Ghosts win the league title and advance to the state tournament in 2010. He left Widener for personal reasons during the year and said his decision to move to Chestnut Hill was due to the goal of playing under his idol, CHC coach Brian Dougherty, the three-time Major League Lacrosse Goalie of the Year and two-time World Cup champion.
“The big (reason) is that Coach Doc is coaching there,” McGinley said. “I know it kind of sounds corny, but growing up, ‘Doc’ was my role model and I thought he was the best goalie out there.
“So to play for a coach that I idolized was a no-brainer. I like Chestnut Hill because it’s really close to my house. Also some of my friends that I played with on LB3 play there. That’s another plus.”
Being away from lacrosse was difficult because I played it for a very long time but I couldnt stay away from it so I eventually decided to get back playing. Chestnut hill college was my second choice to go to college so i decided to contact coach Dougherty.
