The Hatboro-Horsham Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse programs will host the North Penn girls and Pennridge boys Tuesday in a special Suburban One Continental Conference double-header benefit called “Shooting for a Cure.”

Tiis action from lat year's Pink game. This year's doubleheader features a first-place girls’ showdown between North Penn and Hatboro-Horsham and a boys’ game between Hatboro-Horsham and Pennridge.

Following the girls’ varsity first-place showdown game (5:30 p.m.) between the Hatters and Maidens, the Second Annual Hatters Pink Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m.

The ceremony will honor all the participating lacrosse players’ family members (from all teams) that are cancer survivors. Each of those participating players’ family members will be escorted by players from North Penn, Pennridge and Hatboro-Horsham for a ceremony to honor their strength and the doctors that have helped treat them.

All proceeds from the double-header will go to the Mary T. Sachs Breast Center, part of Abington Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center. The Center is a local National Cancer Center that treats many cancer patients from Montgomery and Bucks Counties.

On hand to represent Abington Cancer Center will be Dr. Donna Angotti and Betty Cummings, the Breast Surgeon and Nurse Oncologist that have treated many of the cancer survivors personally through the Abington network.

The girls’ game will probably determine the Continental Conference title. North Penn, the defending champion and ranked in the state, is 9-0 in the league while Hatboro-Horsham is 8-1. The Maidens (14-1 overall) earned a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Hatters (11-1) on April 8.

Following the Pink Ceremony at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Hatboro-Horsham boys will play Pennridge in a Continental Conference game between evenly matched teams. In their last meeting the Hatters won the game by a goal.

Both the Hatters and Pennridge Rams have ordered special “pink jerseys” with breast cancer ribbons to show their support of “Shooting For A Cure”.

Vendors will be on hand with a full snack stand, baked goods and t-shirts to support the cause. Admission to the game is $5, which will be donated to Abington’s Mary T. Sachs Breast Center.
