Brenda McDermott had four goals, one assist and six draw controls to lead visiting North Penn to an 11-9 victory over Hatboro-Horsham tonight in a key Suburban One Continental Conference game, clinching the Maidens at least a share of the Suburban One Continental Conference title.

North Penn (15-1 overall) improved to 10-0 in the league and dropped the second-place Hatters (11-2 overall) to 8-2.

The game was the opener in a girls-boy doubleheader as part of the “Shooting for the Cure” benefit for the Mary T. Sachs Breast Center, part of Abington Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center. The Center is a local National Cancer Center that treats many cancer patients from Montgomery and Bucks Counties.

In the nightcap, Hatboro-Horsham’s boys defeated Pennridge, 10-7. The event raised $4000 for Breast Cancer, and 35 cancer survivors from the families of the players on all four teams were honored between the girls’ and boys’ game. The attendance record for a home lacrosse game was shattered at HH Football Stadium as each team brought a large contingent of fans to cheer on the teams.

Rachel Shaw scored four goals and Macie Hauck had three goals and four assists for North Penn. Steph Knauer added two assists and Jenna Stover was strong in the cage with 13 saves,

Lizzy Carr led the Hatters with four goals and two assists and Nicole Beck had two goals and two assists while Cortnee Daley scored two goals.
