Girls’ high school lacrosse roundup: Boyertown, Penn Charter, LC gain victories

Amanda Smith scored three goals to help Boyertown open defense of its seven Pioneer Athletic Conference championships today by downing Spring-Ford, 9-2, in girls’ lacrosse action.

Jaime Vincent and Kelly Furman each had a goal and an assist while Lindsay Clinton had seven saves for the Bears (1-0).

Cassidy Novotny had 14 saves for the Rams

Penn Charter 10, Mount St. Joseph 7

Blaine Steinberg had four goals and two assists and Kate Higgins added four goals and one assist to lead the Quakers (2-0) to a non-league victory.

Laura Pacheco scored three goals for the Mount while Emilee Ehret had two goals and three draw controls and Olivia Gannon added two goals, two assists and two draw controls.

Central Bucks South 14, Wissahickon 6

Kelly Hamilton collected five goals and three assists and Kayla Kenney had four goals and an assist as the the Titans moved to 2-0.

Leslie Searles made nine saves in goal.

Laura Frankenfield led the Trojans with three goals and Zoey Gomez added two goals for the Trojans (1-0).goals

Lansdale Catholic 13, Nazareth Academy 11

Katie Gillespie scored four goals to give the Crusaders a victory, helping rookie coach Christi Karr earn her first win.

Laura Pharo led Nazareth with four goals.

Pennsbury 12, Villa Joseph Marie 10

The Falcons improved to 2-0 on the young season with a non-league win over the Jems. Kelsey Gumbert and Elle Fagan led a balanced Pennsbury attack with three goals each. Liz Cowley and Taylor Hickman each added a pair of goals while Jackie Sweeney scored a single goal to close out the scoring.

Goalie Liana Eyre turned away eight shots for the Falcons.

Methacton 16, Owen J. Roberts 10

Emily Kellett delivered six goals and three assists while Megan Nearing added four goals and two helpers to lead the Warriors. Abby Devlin chipped in with two goals and two assists for Methacton, which got 12 saves in net from Rikki Moore.

The Wildcats were led by Emily Kolsevich (four goals) and Kelsey Dielam (two goals, two assists).

Upper Perkiomen 18, Pottsgrove 8

Leah High and Mia Baringer scored five goals apiece and Cassidy Arner added four more to key the Indians in the PAC-10 opener for both schools.
Sophomore Rachelle Mewshaw collected four goals to lead the Falcons, who also got strong games from Lauren Edmunds (goal, assist) and the defensive tandem of Emily Bowen, Raquel Cossel and Tally Nodolski.

Perkiomen Valley 8, Nazareth High 7

The Vikings evened their overall record at 1-1 behind two goals apiece from Andrea Berenato and Amber Gansz. Other goal-scorers for PV included Alexa Webb, Chandler Geise, Rachel Palumbo and Haley McGettigan.

Phoenixville 15, Pope John Paul II 2

The Phantoms ran out to an 11-1 lead by halftime and were never challenged. Britney Rohall and Shannan McErlean collected five goals apiece to lead Phoenixville (1-0 league, 1-1).
