District 1 boys’ lacrosse: CB East, Downingtown West, Conestoga advance to quarterfinals

Chris Vetter had three goals and two assists and Blake Ament added three goals and an assist as host Central Bucks East defeated Bishop Shanahan, 10-6, Thursday night in the second round of the District 1 boys’ lacrosse tournament.

The second-seeded Patriots (18-1) advanced to the quarterfinals and will meet seventh-seeded Ridley at Harriton at 2 p.m. Ridley downed Radnor, 5-3.

Parker Self and Ryan Whitney each scored two goals for East, which raced to a 6-1 halftime lead and held off a late Shanahan challenge. Harrison Holak made nine saves and Connor McSherry also scored once for East.

Joe McErlean had three goals and an assist to pace the Eagles (14-5). Kyle Sullivan made 16 saves in goal.

Downingtown West 13, Unionville 5

Tyler McWilliams had three goals and an assist and Zach Logan had two goals and one assist while Eric Rankel won 15 of 17 face-offs and added a goal and three assists to lad the Whippets to an easy win over the Indians.

The third-seeded Whippets (18-1) meet 11th-seeded Spring-Ford Saturday in the quarterfinals at Harriton (noon). Spring-Ford advanced by downing Garnet Valley, 8-6.

Brad Shenberger added two goals and goalie Dustin Keen earned the win with six saves.

Billy Donovan led Unionville (10-10) with goals and an assist and Chris Baker made 13 saves.

Conestoga 15, Hatboro Horsham 3

Tanner Scott had three goals and an assist and Connor Frisina tallied three goals as the top-seeded Pioneers coasted into the quarterfinals.

Conestoga (18-1) will play Abington Saturday at noon at Henderson High. Abington topped Great Valley, 11-9, to advance.

Kyle Morrison, Billy Flatley and Charlie Hildebrand each added two goals for the Pioneers.

Sean Saunders scored twice for the Hatters (10-10) and Mark Poust had 17 saves.
