Central League boys’ roundup: Conestoga tops Strath Haven; Garnet Valley, L. Merion, Radnor, Springfield-Delco, Penncrest win

Jake Scott had four goals and an assist as visiting Conestoga earned a 12-2 victory over Strath Haven today in Central League boys’ lacrosse.

The first-place Pioneers, ranked No. 2 in the PA Media Rankings, rebounded from their loss Saturday to No. 1 Haverford School and improved to 13-1 overall and 8-0 in the league.

Charlie Hildebrand added three goals for Conestoga while Tyler Brooke had two goals and an assist.

Sam Huestis and Kevin Sherry each scored for the Panthers and Steve Brodeur made 10 saves in three quarters. Strath Haven is 4-3 in the league and 6-6 overall.

Garnet Valley 7, Ridley 6

The Jaguars rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the Green Raiders.

Steve Smyrl had three goals and Jules Raucci added s pair while Zach Penfil was a standout at the face-off X, especially in the second half for Garnet Valley.

Kevin Garling, Dalton George and Ryan O’Kane each scored twice for Ridley.

Lower Merion 8, Marple Newtown 4

Cooper Eidenhard had three goals and an assist and Chris Daly and Desmond Ellis each scored twice for the Aces, while Eli Newschaffer made 12 saves for the win.

Teddy Oleynick led Marple with two goals.

Radnor 16 Harriton 2

Rob Dewey had three goals and two assists and Jeff Puckette added three goals and one assist while Ben Junior had two goals and one assist to lead the Red Raiders.

Mike Barnes had a goal and three assists and won 9-of-10 face-offs for Radnor. Jake Shapiro also won 6-of-8 face-offs.

Harry Pillion and Zack Fink scored for the Rams and Jake Marks made 14 saves.

Springfield-Delco 17, Upper Darby 3

Joe Venit had three goals and an assist while Matt Gluck, Brian Todaro and Mark Gurenlian each had two goals and an assist for the Cougars.

Penncrest 7, Haverford High 0

Mike McKernan posted eight saves to earn the rare shutout for the Lions, who also got three goals and an assist from Andrew Caldwell and two goals from Sean Mingey.

Chris Treat had 13 saves for the Fords.
