Boys’ lacrosse: Archbishop Ryan defeats Cardinal O’Hara to reach Catholic League semifinals

Kevin Nelms scored six goals and added four assists to lead host Archbishop Ryan to a 14-8 conquest of Cardinal O’Hara Friday in the first round of the Catholic League boys’ lacrosse playoffs.

The third-seeded Raiders advance to the semifinals Tuesday against No. 2 St. Joseph’s Prep at Cardinal O’Hara. La Salle will face Archbishop Carroll in the other matchup.

Tim Taylor added three goals and two assists for Ryan while Mark Ostaszweski made 12 saves.

John Lee and Nick Levan also scored once apiece for Ryan while Pat Haslebarth dished two assists and Anthony Victor and Greg Soussa each had one assist.

The Raiders broke open a 1-1 game by scoring six times in the second period and seizing a 7-4 halftime lead.
