Jeromy Curry has resigned as head coach of the Boyertown boys’ lacrosse team to take a post as an assistant coach for the first-year program at Albright College.

Curry posted a 38-40 record in his four year at the Pioneer Athletic Conference school, leading the Bears to the District 1 tournament in each of the past two seasons.

Curry also guided the Bears to the PAC-10 semis in each of his four seasons. In 2011 Boyertown went 9-10, bowing to Spring-Ford in the PAC-10 semifinals and Abington in the first round of districts.

Albright – coached by Jake Plunket – will compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Curry, a graduate of Caesar Rodney High (DE), played one season at Mid-Atlantic Conference foe Widener.

Curry was proud of the team’s growth in his time at Boyertown.

“I think we are leaving it (the program) better off now than when we got there,” Curry said. “There were a lot of growing pains, but we wanted to change the culture of lacrosse and we had some hard working kids and the players laid the groundwork.”

Curry was pleased for the opportunity to coach at the college level. He said the team acquitted itself well at the 5th annual Nick Colleluori Classic Oct. 9 at Ridley.

“It’s something I always wanted to do,” he said. “Albright is an exciting program and we’re off to a great start.”
