St. Augustine Prep rising senior midfielder/face-off specialist Bill McMenamin has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Wagner College.
Bill McMenamin log:
High School: St. Augustine Prep
Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Face-off/midfielder
College Choice: Wagner College
Also of note: Twin brother Pat also has committed to Wagner
Club Affiliation: SouthShore Lacrosse
Lacrosse honors: 1st team all Cape Atlantic League
Why did you choose Wagner? “When I first visited Wagner I really loved the campus. It is ten minutes from the city and only a car ride away from home. I also liked the school not just for athletics but also for its academics. Also I feel that the program is going in a positive direction with the hiring of [head] coach [Matt] Poskay.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “Our goal for this season is a state championship. We have been there the past two years and both times we fell short. We are returning a lot of starters from last year so hopefully we can achieve our goal.”
Other comments: “I would like to thank my high school coach, JC Valore. Without him, I wouldn’t be doing this interview right now. I would also like to thank two other coaches who have taught me everything I know about facing off, coach [Marc] Voumard, who is also my high school team’s defense coach, and coach Matt Schomburg out of Long Island.”
