St. Augustine Prep rising senior attackman Pat McMenamin has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Wagner College.

Pat McMenamin log:

Pat McMenamin
High School: St. Augustine Prep
Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Attackman
College Choice: Wagner College
Also of note: Twin brother Bill also has committed to Wagner
Club Affiliation: SouthShore Lacrosse
Academic honors: National Honors Society, Secretary of School in Student Government
What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose Wagner? “We went up for a visit a month ago and we loved the school, loved the location. We loved the coach, new coach, coach [Matt] Poskay, so we really think they’re headed in a new direction.

“The lacrosse program has struggled the last few years but I think they’re going to start being more dedicated to the lacrosse program and we liked that in the school.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year?
“State championship. We’ve been in the state championship the last two years and we came up short the last two years so we feel good about this year, we feel strong. We only lost two starting seniors last year so we’re looking to try to make it back and come out with a win this year.”

Other comments: McMenamin would like to thank his high school coach, JC Valore. “I played lacrosse in eighth grade but freshman year is when I really started to get serious about it. He pretty much taught me the game.”
