Archbishop Carroll junior attack Gabbi Hull has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at George Washington University.

Archbishop Carroll junior Gabbi Hull has committed to George Washington

Hull has helped the Patriots finish undefeated in the Catholic League and advance to the championship game. Carroll plays Archbishop Wood in its quest for an 11th straight league title Tuesday at Neumann University at 6 p.m.

Hull has been a member of the Phantastix lacrosse club for five years. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and an officer for the school’s Best Buddies club.

Hull liked the potential of the GW program under coach Tara Hannaford.

“I really loved meeting Coach Hannaford and the girls on the team,” Hull said. “She is an excellent coach and GW’s lacrosse program is on the rise. I really want to be involved with an up and coming program and I hope I can make a positive contribution to the team.”

“The girls on the team made me feel right at home and just made me all that much more excited about going to GW,” Hull added.

Hull, who is a 4.0 student and plans to become a physician’s assistant, will also be closer to her sister, Genni, who is currently playing at American University.

Hull said her team’s goal is both to keep its amazing streak going as Catholic League champion and also to make a run at a state title. Carroll has lost in the second round of states in each of the first two years of the PIAA tourney.

“[We] hope to make this our 11th straight undefeated season in the Catholic League,” Hull said. “Then, we really hope to go far in the state tournament.

“We really want to do this for coach (Lorraine) Beers. We are so lucky to have her as our coach. She is so great and always so helpful and always there for us.”
