Lobb said she also considered Virginia, Duke and Penn State. She plans to major education and minor in coaching.

“I completely fell in love with the coaches and I saw how the team bonded when I went on my visit,” Lobb said. “I met with the 2010 freshmen and the campus is just beautiful.

“I felt like I belonged there,” she added. “It’s a real family-oriented group and they all have each other’s backs. I was watching practice and it meshes so well.”

North Carolina, coached by Jenny Levy, went 16-3 last year and reached the NCAA Final Four before bowing to Northwestern in he semifinals.

Lobb is excited about the 2011 scholastic season, too. East returns most of its nucleus and she feel the Vikings can challenge for a Ches-Mont League crown under new head coach Christa Somits (the former coach at Villa Maria Academy)..

“We only lose two seniors and we have a lot of returning varsity starters back,” Lobb said. “Our new coach is coming in and gives is a real good coach. I think we really can compete.”

Lobb is the second member of the Vikes to commit to a Division I college. Recently senior midfielder Julia Falcone committed to St. Joseph’s.
