Radnor senior defender Allison Heath has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.
Heath, a second-team All-Central League selection last year, helped the Red Raiders go 25-1 and win the first PIAA championship.
“I liked the fact that it’s only a mile away from the beach, which is nice,” said Heath, who plans to major in Education. “I liked the class size, and I really liked the girls on the team. It seems like they have good chemistry and a good coaching staff.”
Monmouth, which went 5-3 in the Northeast Conference and 7-11 overall last year, has a first-year coach this season in Denise Wescott.
Philly grads Kelly Bosco (Archbishop Carroll), Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll), Perry DeWitt (Great Valley), Marlee Hagan (Archbishop Carroll), Molly O’Brien (Unionville) and Olivia Salata (Archbishop Carroll) are on the roster of the Hawks, who are off to an 0-3 start this season.
“The campus is really gorgeous and the girls on the team all seemed cool,” Heath said. “I felt I could fit in with them well.”
Heath, who also plays field hockey and basketball at Radnor, joins a slew of Division I Red Raiders recruits that also includes junior Leah Gallagher (Notre Dame) and seniors Alyssa Dunlap and Ellie Kraus (Vanderbilt), Kelyn Freedman (Georgetown), Allie Martin (Penn), Andrea Feldman (Bucknell) and Courtney Campbell (Richmond).
“I’m pretty excited, because this year will be my last time playing with all my good friends,” Heath said. “I really want to go out with a bang. We all know expectations are high, but we just want to focus on the little things and go from there.”
