Owen J. Roberts rising senior attack Emily Kolsevich has made a verbal commitment

to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Louisville.
Kolsevich was a first team Pioneer Athletic Conference selection in 2010 when she had 37 goals and 25 assists and earned Academic All-American by US Lacrosse. Kolsevich, who plays for the PA Express club team, is a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the United Sports Underclass Honor Roll by Phillylacrosse.com.
She plans to major in Exercise Science at Louisville, which in its third season went 11-6 overall and 4-4 in the Big East.
“I fell in love with it when I went for a visit,” said Kolsevich. “It’s a great opportunity to go somewhere different. I never thought I’d be playing lacrosse in Kentucky; I’ve never been off the East Coast.
“Also, they had my major – Exercise Science – and that was my first priority. It’s an amazing program and the school is highly recognized for that. And I wanted to be part of a program’s legacy that was started only three years ago.”
Kolsevich will join a southern program that has a strong Philly connection. Louisville rising senior Bergan Foley (Gwynedd Mercy Academy) has scored 200 goals in her first three years and rising junior Brooke Campbell (Conestoga) is a regular. This year’s recruits include Great Valley’s Colleen O’Malley and Ridley’s Kelsey Garraty.
Kolsevich, who played for the Philly 2 team at the National Tournament in 2010, maintains a 4.225 GPA and mentors middle school girls as a member of Club Ophelia.
Last year she helped the Wildcats finish 11-8 and reach both the PAC-10 and District 1 playoffs.
“Last season was great,” she said. “We feel like next season we can improve again and have a blast while keeping up the intensity.”
