Notre Dame Academy rising senior midfielder Bree Buysee has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.
Buysee has played varsity lacrosse since her freshman year, and was a key contributor for a 14-5 club that placed second in the league.
“I chose Lehigh because I loved everything about it,” said Buysee. “I feel like I really connected with the coaches as well as the players.
“Right away when I stepped on the campus I fell in love with the school. I think it has the perfect balance of academics and athletics for me and I love how their lacrosse program is on the rise.”
At Lehigh, Buysee will play under second year coach Jill Redfern (Ursinus) and with a team that went 14-4 and lost in the Patriot League championship game this year.
Buysee, who is considering a major in business or engineering, is also a member of the National Honor Society. She has a 4.0 GPA and has also played varsity field hockey for Notre Dame since her sophomore year.
She is one of three Philly rising seniors to commit to Lehigh. Others are Downingtown East attack/midfielder Emily Solenberger and Harriton junior attack Carli Sukonik.
Buysee, who plays club lacrosse for the Phantastix, said that Notre Dame had a successful season this year and that the team bonded both on and off the field.
“Next year we’re losing seven seniors,” she said. “But I really believe that some of our underclassmen will step up and we should have a great season again.”
