Methacton junior midfielder Abby Devlin has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.
Devlin, a three-year starter, is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the Distinguished Honor Roll. She plans to study chemistry at Drexel and also chose the school because of coach Annamarie Vesco.
“I liked the coach; I really connected with her,” Devlin said. “I also like her game-plam.
“I am interested in chemistry and they have a good chemistry program. I like the school’s co-op program and it’s just a great opportunity.”
Devlin had the game-winning goal in overtime Saturday as the Warriors defeated Bishop Shanahan, 12-11, in overtime at the Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor. The win boosted Methacton’s record to 7-3 and gave them five straight victories. The Warriors also have won six of eight PAC-10 games, including a clutch 9-8 triumph over Pottstown last week.
“I went around the crease and the (goalie) went too far and I rolled behind her and scored,” Devlin said of her game-winner Saturday. “This is our first good win outside of our league.
“We’re just starting to get into the flow of things. Our intensity is 10 times better than before. With the win over Pottstown and this game (Saturday), I hope we can keep building.”
