Downingtown West rising senior defender Sally Clark has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at George Mason University.
Clark was a key member of a Whippets team that finished 12-7 and advanced to the
District 1 tournament.
Clark, who made the Distinguished Honor Roll, will major in athletic training at George Mason, located in Fairfax, Va.
“As soon as I stepped on the campus I knew it was the right for for me,” she said. “I love the campus as well as the players and coaches. Also, they have my major.
“I love sports and working out and knowing what muscles help you play has always bene so interesting to me. I like knowing how the body works and I want to stay in sport.”
Clark, who plays club lacrosse for PA Express, also played for Philly 2 this year at the National Tournament.
Clark said the 2010 season had its obstacles, but felt it was a successful season because the team rallied after senior standout Morgan Obendorfer suffered a season-ending knee injury.
“I think it (the loss) made us closer,” Clark said. “We knew we had to work even more as a team and use everyone on the field. We were pretty young and we still made the playoffs.”
