The Philadelphia Wings will try to snap a five-game losing streak when they travel to Buffalo to face the Bandits at the HSBC Arena Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

In their previous meeting two weeks ago, Bandits legend John Tavares made his return following a six-game absence due to a calf injury and led Buffalo (2-5) to a 13-11 victory.

Tavares scored two goals and had four assists and won the NLL Offensive Player of the Week Award while Buffalo rookie goalie, Angus Goodleaf was named the NLL Defensive Player of the Week.  Goodleaf replaced starting goalie Mike Thompson with his team down five goals and went on to stop 37 of the 43 shots he faced.

The Wings (1-6), in last place in the Eastern Division, were led by Kyle Wailes (4G, 3A) in the first meeting.

On Thursday the Wings signed free agent David Mitchell, a forward who last played for the Wings in 2009. Philadelphia released veteran forward Jason Crosbie to make room for Mitchell on the active roster.

Mitchell played each of his first two NLL seasons with the Wings in 2008 and 2009, recording 24 points (11G, 13A) in 14 games. The left handed forward is a 2007 graduate of Cornell University where he was a two time All-Ivy and two time All-American selection.  Mitchell was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the second round (25th overall) in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.

This was Crosbie’s second stint with the Wings, having recorded 65 points (17G, 48A) in 23 games played with Philadelphia between the 2008 and 2010 seasons.  He spent the 2009 season with Wings division rival Toronto Rock.
