Sophomore midfielder Sam Tulskie, who helped lead Springfield-Delco to the District 1 girls’ lacrosse championship in 2009 but decided to play college volleyball, has been added to the lacrosse roster at La Salle University.
Tulskie, a Second Team Central League lacrosse pick in 2009 when she scored 63 goals, is a key member of the volleyball team at La Salle. As a freshman last year, she led the Explorers in digs with 385.
The volleyball season is played in the fall. Tulskie was a two-time Delco Times Player of the Year and a four-time All-Central League pick at Springfield in volleyball.
Tulskie helped the Cougars’ lacrosse team finish 22-3 and defeat Radnor, 14-9, in the District 1 title game in 2009. She had four goals in the title game, a win that halted Radnor’s 44-game winning streak. She had 29 of her goals that year in Springfield’s seven playoff games.
Tulskie is one of 17 players on the La Salle lacrosse roster that graduated from a Philly school. The team last year made a stunning turnaround under second-year coach and Haverford High grad Candacae Taglianetti – going from 4-12 to 9-7, while reaching the Atlantic 10 tourney for the first time ever.
Taglianetti was named the A-10 Women’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year, leading her squad to a program-record for victories, including five conference wins.
