In its first ever win at Penn State, the Villanova men’s lacrosse team brought home an 11-7 victory Tuesday night.
Senior co-captain Mark Scioscia led the Wildcats (3-1) with two goals and an assist while Michael Vigilante, Jack Rice and Mike Brennan each added two goals. Paul Webber, Will Casertano and Matt Bell each added one goal.
On the defensive end, senior Bryan McCartney (Archbishop Wood) led the team with six ground balls while Brian Karalunas, Nolan Vihlen, T.J. O’Donnell, Troy Higgins and Brennan all tallied two ground balls each.
VU’s Dan Gutierrez is credited with the victory and made seven saves for the Wildcats while PSU’s Dave Baker (Haverford High) made 17 saves in a strong effort.
Matt Mackrides (Malvern Prep) led Lions (0-4) goals and Billy Gribbin had a pair. Colton Vosburgh (Unionville) had a goal and an assist. Matt Bernier (Malvern Prep) had three groundballs to pace the defense.
Villanova will be back in action this Saturday when it travels to cross-town rival Penn for a contest at Franklin Field. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
